Recently, I have been on a self kick. I kinda prefer my time alone and I do most things for one. It’s been interesting. I realized I had let of of somethings long ago, that I decided to pick back up and this is kind of an exciting time.
Years ago I started on a necklace that is called the Desert Rose- it’s pretty intense. The quickest I have ever heard of it being made is about 9 hours. Now the necklace consist of many tiny beads, a lot of patience and 9 strands that you put together as you go along. For my necklace I have chosen three colors: periwinkle, sea-foam green and blue ocean. I distinctly recall picking the colors based off of my love and contentment with water. Water is extremely soothing to my soul, it does not matter what is wrong- the quickest way for me to feel balanced and refreshed is to step in an ocean or the sea. Even swimming in a pool is refreshing to me. With that in mind I choose colors that make me think of natural bodies of water for the soothing effect.
All in all I have probably put in about 12- 16 hours on this necklace, and I am working on the third strand. I do think I’ll need to pick up some more beads very soon. My anxiety over the necklace is that it tangles very easily while I am working and the tighter it gets, the harder it may be to work with.
Bead work aside I am pretty excited that I just started calligraphy about a week ago. Calligraphy was always very intriguing and so elegant, that it was something I wanted to learn. The first font I have been working on is called chancery, and according to my calligraphy guru my strokes look good thus far and the rest comes with more and more practice. In addition to calligraphy, I picked up a kit for me to learn how to illuminate letters. That is, the fancy large letters at the beginning of a fairy tale. I hope to be writing some very pretty letters here soon. The best thing about calligraphy and illuminated lettering is that it takes much time to write and is so beautiful, that I feel all my letters will be filled with more love.
Personally I am voting that we write on parchment with only elegant handwriting again. Though I’m not sure how I feel about writing a massive research paper in calligraphy, especially in a Gothic font. Nope, that prospect does not sound exciting.
Gothic font, is six strokes to the letter by the way- it’s intense. Just like getting a stronger resistance on the elliptical, Gothic writing is going to have to be worked on.
Salute!
